| Tips of the weekend......
1. Do not....take malaria medication on an empty or semi-empty stomach. It makes you ill.
2. Do not....let the 'henna' tattoo lady put her 'henna'in your
hair......its not henna, its hair dye. (no i didn't, but it was a
little too close to joy coming back with black streaks)
3. Do not ....try to get too close to any large turles you
happen to see walking around, looking innocent and cute. They
might chase you. I know what you're thinking,"turles? not fast
chasers!" Well, you just go ahead and try it!
4. Do not....judge coke by its label! It might just taste alright from a bottle.
5. Do not...accept any offers of camels no matter how impressive
it sounds ....there is usually a wedding ring attached to it. Oh
and be careful of who you take pictures with. Enough said.
6. and last but not least....Do not, assume you have drank
enough, until you are taking leak about every 2 hours. (so they
say, thats apparently some unwritten goal to be attained, I haven't
made it...i doubt i will)
Have a grand Easter weekend and i'll see you all in a few days!!

| Ok, so we were on the way back from ann's sale and our driver, Karis,
the Irish teacher, hit a moto as they say. Meaning, in Bamako, even if
you have a turn signal on, you must look before turning, because if
someone wants to pass you on their motorbike, then they can, and
probabyl will. if you hit them its your fault. So ya, we hit him, but
he sped on, so we continued on. And believe it or not, 5 blocks later
he catches up to us! We say sorry, and he drives away. Crazy! | | |
| So africa continues to be a thrill! We have just ended for the
weekend and i'm going to go change and swim, then go to movie night
tonight. Move: Chronicles of Narnia! We smuggled a
pre-released dvd before it came out. nice! Go Canadians!
Yeah, truly i'm enjoying my canadian comrads, they're rad, as they would say :)
nothing too new, except my friend Mark was locked out of his house last
night, so he, carly and i sat at my host home and visited with Nataly
and Marcus for awhile, and ate swiss chocolate! awsome. Nataly
and Marcus are swiss, thats the connection.
today was ''ann's sale" where a missionary lady sells quality
souvenouir kinds of things to everyone....apparently its a twice a year
thing that everyone wants to hit, so we were part of that. THats
my day! have a good saturday!

| Hey Everyone!
Just wanted to update and tell you all that I'm here in Africa! We made it after ...lets see, my travel director told me 23 hours it took us :) Thanks Dan. We're just trying to get organized and adjusted, but things are going well. Our team is jiving very well and our host families are amazing. Last night I went swimming with the misquitoes, today I played inthe street with some kids, earlier i went to the tailor to get a skirt made, and now i'm making play do with koolaid. I haven't had any coffee since I"ve been here, for all that were worried, but it has been offered every day at 10:30 during coffee break. Seriously, you have to be die hard to drink coffee and hot tea in 30 degree Celcius weather! Oh ya, I've learned how to calculate celcius temps now, so thats a valuable part of my learning now.
hmm, lets see...Donna, i'm making it...so far nothing too crazy! Janette, you wouldn't make it here, there isn't any grass! Onlly trees and very large rocks. Oh and guess what? I heard a tale of a long ago Cornhusker fan that painted his truck here on the field, red. Yeah, we're just that loyal. haha The other night I had steak and sweet tea! Can't get any better than that!
Seriously though things are going well, but tomorrow will tell us more. We start our sessins tomorrow morning at 8 mali time, and 4am your time (indiana). So pray for our rest and energy so we continue to hydrate and get our sleep. So far no malaria!
Leave some comments, let me know what you've been doing!
(Rita, will let janette and donna see this site? thanks! )

May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at your back, The sun shine warm upon your face, The rain fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the hollow of His hand.
